does anyone on here work for or live near the DVLA as i would like to bomb the place (after hours ofcourse as i woudn't want to kill anyone) as on the 20th september i declared my 6 SORN for the winter as the MOT ran out on the 15th and tax on the 31st........

I have now received a letter saying that i failed to declare the car SORN and that i am eligable for a late licencing penalty. I went into the DVLA today and they are always so grumpy and unhelpful just said you have to write to them but you will have to pay the fine, i asked if they could put me on the phone to the department i needed to talk to so they did. once on the phone the lady just repeated what i had already been told, said i needed to talk to the enforcement department to which i said i was told you are the enforcement dept to which she said we are.... GGRRRRR so i said well im already talking to the enforcement dept to which she just said yes thats right and im going to end the call.

RANT OVER i am extremely frustrated and theres no way the c**nts are having £80 when i sent it and it already costs over £120 to tax for 6 months

does anyone have any help or advice for me PLEASE???

Using the internet to declare SORN is the best way of doing it.

Do a google search as its been covered on other forums many times, dont pay it because how can they prove you did not send it. People have gone to court and DVLA got no where with it.

Should've sent it recorded as you didn't do the online route that takes about 34 seconds.

Oh they are fairly quick at passing it to debt collectors too.

What's the date on your letter?

Lucky you mine took 2 months to get to me, weren't interested in that fact either. Pay it and forget it, after all they are only charinging you half. Just pretend to yourself that you've been driving everyday so actually getting one over them.

Re: Jamma You wont get off with it and you'll also have lost the £40 rate.

Manthos the answer was you should've sent an anteater with a SORN form strapped to it and Wizard they respond.

Allsorys? You'll have a job finding them. Anteaters are common compared to Allsorys. They are like Carls Hen's teeth.

You think thats bad? They decided a friend of mine had never owned a driving licence when he sent it back to be renewed when it was out of date.

A cousin has been working on the database side of things for them for ages and says it is completely shit. Getting better, but really overly complicated apparently.

Minor bureaucrats. The UK has a plague of them. It is so common for people to be rude that I am actually surprised and almost grateful when someone is just polite and does their job properly. There is something wrong with that.

If people had more pride in their work maybe this country would stop going down the sh- I mean toilet. Look where a culture of laziness, ineptitude and that a job for life is a god-given right got Greece and Italy.
