Ok i'm gonna buy an oil cooler since the temp regularly rises higher than i'm comfortable with when on trackdays.

I've been looking through the threads but am a bit confuse about how the sandwich plate fits on to the block

I intend to keep the original heat exchanger too.

Is it a easy as remove the oil filter then screw on the sandwhich plate??

Some of the threads mention an extension bolt being needed, is this required if keeping the heat exchanger?

Also i'm thinking of a Mocal 13 row 235mm, adequate for occasional track days on a more or less standard engine?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah the sandwich plate sits between the filter and heat exchanger. The extension bolt just goes through the middle of the sandwich plate and allows the filter to then sit on the end, securing the plate in place and allowing the oil through it.

Yep thats as easy as it is.

The extension bolt should be included with the sandwich plate, from another recent thread i think it is the M20x1.5 version that you need, if you let the supplier know they should sort you out with one.

A lot of people say the 13 row one at 235mm is ok for track work, i have a couple on my track car for good measure and can get to about 115c after a while on-track with a std power engine.

Any taller than 13 row and you might have to trim your bumper to get more air to it, 13 is about right for the height of the grille in the bumper. Smile

all about airflow with coolers. ive got direct flow to mine on the track car with nothing infront and behind(runs alongside a smaller radiator) and on the digital SPA oil temp gauge never got over 100 degree. thats with a 13 row 235mm radiator.

but yes just need a thermostatic sandwich plate to fit peugeot and the extension bolt should come with it.

The extension bolt is the bit on the left, and should come for the kit if it's for the '6.

It just sits in the middle of the plate, there's a thread on the inside that attaches to the block, the filter then attaches to the extension. Simple. It is absolutely as easy as removing the old filter and putting it on Yes

Ok I decided on a 235mm 13 row Mocal oil cooler and fittied it today.

I'm gonna try to explain how I fitted it.

I read lots of threads relating to fitting these and couldn't really find one that was a non Supercharged car that wants to retain the fogs lights and a/c.

I state from the outset that this postion may not last forever but it seems to works at the moment.

Here goes:-

Removed front bumper and grill till it looked like this.

You will note that the fans have been taken off, at this stage we were considering mounting in between the a/c rad and the fans. Measurements say it would have fitted but it would have meant a lot of butchering of the fan housing thing. Namely the two lower diagonal supports
TBH i couldn't be f**ked with the hastle.

So decided to mount it behind the grill below the number plate. Like this:

It looked like this once the bumper was offered back up to the body

This is what the sandwich plate/filter looked like after fitting

It was tricky getting it onto position and I now look like a i have been self harming due the slashes on my forearms caused by the razor sharp nissens rad.
