In accordance with new mot rules I understand that airbag/srs system and lamp must work correctly, which causes me a bit of difficulty (as I suspect it does for most people on here) as mine is merrily flashing away.

Is there a way to test the system yourself to at least identify where the fault lies? bit up shit creek really if not. I suppose you could test each seat plug with a resistor but I was thinking global test.

Don't say take the bulb out either as the test stipulates correct function of! Could always wire it to the abs I guess.

^^ this.

Could end up costing lots of time and money chasing the issues, unless you were to wire a shunt / resistor into all of the airbag plugs, which in theory "should" fool the system into thinking the airbags are there and working.

Well after a couple of hours of logical progression i found a snapped wire in the passenger seat of my HDi. soldered it up and job is a good'un, no light.

Onto my brothers HDi next, where the light was on the day we got it so i've no idea where to start with that one. FAQ guide isn't too bad but no way of testing things, just places to look for issues.

Backup plan is a cunning idea. Whistle

I ended up hard wiring the underneath of both of my front seats, as i was getting intermittant faults. Seems to have done the job for now.

Yes that's covered in the FAQ and will be my next step. My wire had actually snapped where it goes into the seat back! Seat required partial dismantling. Smile
