Looking to get a new Head Unit seeing as mine is still the original tape player.

I know I need both cables to be able to keep using the steering wheel stalk (as I use it a surprising amount) but I'm unsure which cable I need initially as they go from 1993-1997 (PC99-X19) and 1997-1999 (PC99-X23).

Mines an R reg (so 1997) phase 2, any body able to point me in the right direction?
From what I've read it seems to be the PC99-X19 but I'd rather get it right first time.

You're probs best getting the PC99-X19 then looking at the plug. You may or may not need to change the stalk.

Mine was a T-Reg Rallye and it used the X-19 version. The X-19 connects to a stalk plug that is black and oblong with about 10 pins on it. The X-23 connects to the smaller coloured DIN type.

My stalk adapter (for Blaupunkt) worked after a fashion but when releasing the volume control it would also change the station, which was very irritating. I bought another stalk, and the same thing happened. I also tried swapping wires over on the stalk. None of this and other experiments worked, so I have deleted the stalk entirely in the meantime.

Changing the stalk itself is easy, as it only connects to the stereo and is held in by screws onto the steering wheel cowling.

Make sure that the pins line up on the X-19 and stalk plug.

If you are struggling to get it to work, post up. Mine took ages to work then just started.
