First of all HO HO HO Merry Crimbo, Secondly I thought id ask you bunch of knowledgeable people a quick question about a dirty derv im off see tomorrow.

Im interested in running a mix of veggie oil in a 306 as I'm a tight bas**rd but i've heard alot about staying clear of the 306's that run the Lucas pump as it can't cope & to go for a 306 with a bosch pump but other than ripping the interior up of a potential car how can you tell what a 306 is equipped with?? Cheers Thumbs up

Is it a simply case of just looking for a Bosch or Lucas stamp on the pump in the engine bay? any ideas to the location too? The diesel lump is a bit of a mystery to me as I only know the GTi6.Cheers

in the first pic it is circled... its the thing infront of the top mount intercooler on the left hand side... its just to the right of the manual primer on the 2nd pic...

The lucas will just shat itself if you try running veg so I'm told... I know someone that tried on a HDI and that shat itself too...

bosch will be fine on pure veg oil Smile

Can you run a car like that long term on just the veg oil? No additives, just filter out the bits of fish and chips?

Do you know if the pump on the TUD5 will take veg oil? Did they have 2 different pumps like the XUD9?

no tud5 in the uk had a bosch unit afaik, some euro ones did, indeed george just fills it up a few times a week, no issues a few thousand miles on, started fine when the temps dropped a few weeks ago Big grin
