I have the usual Air Bag dashboard flashing light problem on my Phase 3 306 HDi.

I disconnected the two orange cables under the driver's seat and used bullet plugs to securely reconnect them.

To my dismay, upon turning the key again - the Air Bag light still flashes.

Does this mean the problem is in the wiring loom behind the sterring column?

Could the problem be anywhere else?

How much is it likely to cost to repair?

The "Air Bag" light is for the steering wheel / passenger dash air bag, make sure the passenger air bag switch is set to "on" (just near to the ignition)

The side air bag symbol is related to the side airbags on the font seats, if you have done the drivers side it could be on the passenger seat?

Thanks for the advice. I've just done exactly the same bullet-plug replacement with the orange cables under the passenger seat, but I am greeted with exactly the same glashing Air Bag light on the dash still.

What would be the next port of call in stopping the light?

I don't care whether the air bags work or not!

Take dash out and remove the bulb.

Or for MoT, wire the airbag light to the alternator light. They'll both illuminate for ignition, and disappear when started.

Not any more thanks to more Brussels interference.

To save the effort of clicking the clicky, the key quote is:

"Until now, for example, those with airbag lights that remain on while driving have passed because it's an issue that hasn't formed part of the safety inspection. Now drivers will no longer be able to simply remove the bulb, as it will have to be shown working when you turn on the ignition, and go out once it is started."

I can see a demand for a small simple timer circuit to power warning lamps that takes a feed from the accessory position on the first turn of the key, and then holds 5-10 seconds of charge via a capacitor once the key is turned to the running position and then the supply is cut.
