thanks. its not perfect but better than some newer cars ive seen.he wasnt to sure, there were a few things wrong and i guess its kinda like chicken and egg to say which caused the other. cant say the start of its life spent round silversatone helped much. i hope to be picking it up somethime this weekend. then its off to my my unit for some tlc. the place is finally sorted, spray booth, air tools, welders + many other usefull things. combine that with the rest of the month on holiday and i think my cars going to be rather spangly by the end of it all. ill get some pics/new threads up after ive locked myself away for a month in a shed with it ________________________________________ the world is changed by people in sheds |

daveyboy wrote: Meh, the thermal efficiency of dirty water will have next to no difference to that of clean coolant so who gives a shit? being an ac/fridge engineer i have a pretty good idea on thermal efficienies and high pressure systems. i can understand that a slighlty dirty liquid has minimal thermal capacity difference to a clean liquid. however a clean system (internal engine channels and rad coil) has a much greater thermal efficiency than a dirty one. when servicing ac units. cleaning the coil (rad) inside and out throughly, in most cases dropped the unit load (current) between 30 - 40%. generally finding that the dirty inside and outside are responsible 50/50 for the decrease in efficiency a squeaky clean cooling system may not be such a bad thing. ________________________________________ the world is changed by people in sheds |

i dont it imagine it spewing dihorea out the rad cap anytime soon the new rad should be pretty squeaky however the heater matrix is old and the engine is still a second hand lump. so the thermal channels inside it may be a bit deposit covered. i dont plan on doing anything drastic cleaning wise atm, i may cause more damage than harm if a remooved deposit happens to be clogging a leak up. im getting myself a milwaukee endoscope sometime in the future. mainly becuase im into weird types of amatuer porn envolving my nay sayers moms. but i can also use it to inspect my engine coolant channels and decide from there if i wanna risk a "deep clean" ________________________________________ the world is changed by people in sheds |

yeah that sems the best option at the moment. on a sad note. i have a feeling a filter would increase the life span of an ewp when i eventually get one. looks like this filter idea is another one for the backburner ________________________________________ the world is changed by people in sheds |

Jimmy, I always think a little bit of blind faith in things car engine related doesn't go amiss, I'm not talking changing your cambelt at 31k instead but just trying not to obsessively worry about things.Your car will be fine. But if you keep worrying about all of this then you WILL go insane. When you get it back I order you to warm it up and SPANK the living daylights out of it. Other wise you may as well get another 1.4. Relax my friend. Ps I'm only saying this because your obsessive worrying reminds me of myself ________________________________________ Ex- Phase 3 China GTi-6 T-Reg |
