I have no idea how this happend but whilst driving my car earlier it completely died on me, came to a rolling stop.

Had no power, no electrics, nothing on the immobiliser. Nothing what so ever.

There is stll power in the battery.

About a month ago I changed starter motor though everything has been fine.

Any Ideas??

Sounds like an EMP blast from an enemy ship.

Thanks for the advice.

I've had a brief look at most connections and they look ok :S

The earth to the gear box it all looks fine. It happened instantly when I changed gear and there was a bit of a jolt. Then boom, no power.

No evidence of an EMP strike.

Will have a proper look/dig out tomorrow.

When putting the Neg terminal back on the battery, despite nothing in th car powered on,it was arcing so bad it was melting the battery terminal... is this normal? Is something on thats "pulling" power?

Just had to tow it home with a rope without lights or anything.... the amount of flashes we got... lol

The changing gear thing makes it sound like an earth fault as the engine/gearbox can move whilst changing up/down.

Found it! Took the inlet manifold out and discovered a cable going to the starter motor had been eaten into by the corner of a metal plate where the sensor cables run along.

When its light tomorrow and I'll put it back together - Fingers crossed!

Thanks alot for the help!

If that was a +ve cable it should have blown a fuse somewhere, you may also have a flat battery. Lucky it didn't start a fire
