Had my head gasket done about a month ago picked the car up and it was really tappy the garage told me it would stop, they said it was the lifters sorting them selves out , so after about 200 miles no change still tappy I took the car bk to the garage they checked the compression and lifters and said they were fine, so I carried on using the car I left work one day and put my foot down to get in front off a truck the car lost loads off power and started making a really bad clanging noise I have spoke to a mate who used to be a peugeot mechanic he said aswell as another mate its the valves and lifters that are at fault________________________________________ Adding up the bills for the 6 |

Ow and I've been reassured it isn't the bottom end all the noise is coming from the top off the engine ________________________________________ Adding up the bills for the 6 |

I'd imagine the clanging noises are the valves trying to beak free through the pistons.________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

Was it a tapper before the garage did the headgasket? If not then the garage bent some valves during the course of the repair and left you with a tapper. Best get on the blower to the garage and politely enquire as to how they wish to resolve the issue...________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. Good luck with that sounds like a poor repair to me but I doubt the garage will do anything Best off getting a different engine |

Yeah it will still run as still getting fuel air and a spark just down on compression in that cylinder noise will be broken valve floating around in the head being smashed by the piston into the head |

colgti6 wrote: Could it be repairable or is it new engine job If it's dropped a valve the head will be wrecked and the chances are that metal fragments will have found their way into the bearings in the bottom end and caused havoc there too. Get the compression test done, if there is a valve issue compression will be practically zero. If that turns out to be the case, buy a second hand lump. I think Ratboy still has a rebuilt one up for grabs. ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. I sell new and used welding equipment in the Hampshire area.
