Replaced the air filter yesterday, the old one wasnt in bad condition but had patches covered in oil. Disconnected the air box from the manfold where the maf sensor is, and it seems really oily in there too! Not dirt, oil! What causes this? I know old cars always have a bit of oil and dirt there, but not dripping with oil!

Dont worry it's residue from the crankcase breather. The pipe that goes from the head to the throttle body.

It's normal.
