My driver belt is squeeking quite badly.

Armed with some WD40 I found out the part that is squeeking is the fixed(??) Tensioner.
This bit: LUK Tensioner - ECP

While you are looking at that link, is that the correct one for the GTi6? (Mines a PH3 1999 V reg).

Is it worth changing the belt itself when I change this?

If so which one:
ContiTech Drive Belt #1 - Part number: 6PK1610
ContiTech Drive Belt #2 - Part number: 6PK1165

Cheers Thumbs up

Unless I've misunderstood, I think you've got your belts mixed up - that's a timing belt tensioner (ie cambelt) but new auxiliary belts - two different things.

That tensioner doesn't look right to me either. Incidentally I'm looking to replace my aux belt, so would be interested to hear the answer.

Drive belt and Aux belt are the same thing, so I was part right.

I am on about an Aux tensioner. Did have a diagram from Peugeot and it looked the same. The one that squeeking is the second one down (its just below the top pump, guessing thats a water one)

The aux tensioner in the FAQ doesn't look anything like that, never done it myself so not actually too sure.

Looks like that bit you have squeaking is just a pulley rather than a tensioner, perhaps that's it. What we really need is someone who actually knows, but until they come along I'll continue throwing confusing conjecture into the mix.

that pic is of the non a/c setup, the first tensioner (idler actually rather than tensioner) is for the A/C arrangement

the 1610 belt is the correct one afaik.

top pump is pas, water pump is timing belt driven and not visible.
