My mate is looking at buying a diesel run around to do his daily commute (about 100 miles a day) and has about a grand to spend. This puts him in the market for a 306 meridian HDI. I did tell him a GTi6 would be a better option but he ignored me, completely.

I even tried to sell him mine

*cheeky plug*

Since he won't buy a GTi6 what should he look for when viewing a HDi? and just what on earth does 'meridian' mean?

its top spec non sport model, late cars will be sport spec bumpers however.

they will often have half leathers, will have aircon electrics etc, usually on Lasers but again late cars had cyclones, most are 5 door.

Thanks.

Any tips on what to look for when checking prospective cars? "with my peugeot knowledge" he expects me to know what I'm on about!

much the same as a gti6 mechanically, other than the diseasel of course LOL

look for unusual noises knocks or rattles, smoke etc, they are smooth compared to the old XUD.
