Ever since I made a fatal error in letting my GTi6 get written off by my insurance. I have been longing to get back in the driving seat of another but today I drove an Octavia TDi 55 plate (not a VRS) and instantly loved it! I only drove it a matter of about 100yards but it was such a comfortable and leisurely drive I could have happily taken it for a joy ride I just had a look at the VRS' models of the same age on AT and the price range seems fair,(considering milage/no of owners/year etc) I would probably go for the 150/170 TDi PDI model (Performance but still fair on the MPG with reliabilty) but deep down I know I long for another '6 but I can't help feeling I need a change. What should I do? ________________________________________ I Live for the 306TEAM CHERRY PINK RALLYE 2008 BMW ///M 320d |

The vanes are pretty weird though as to how they adjust/move to keep the turbo boosting at it's best. do all newer cars use these now mab? You will only here horror stories on the net, no one ever posts about how good something is. Mine PD150 Leon has been fine. I did a similar thing, sold my '6 to get a Leon 150 TDi. They are cheap to run, feel well built, pleasent to drive, etc. My main negative was it isn't as involving to drive and now I'm selling to fund a house deposit I've been hit by this depreciation thing. Previously I'd only spend £1,500 on a car, in 12 months thats how much value my car has lost! |

Camshafts are fine if the correct servicing is followed in terms of oil, if the wrong oil is used the the lobes on the camshafts wear very quickly and become coslty, doing the usual warm up/cool down helps to imo |

My brother has VRS, constantly thinks his car is much faster than my GTi6. Close but stats and our odd quick spurt race prooves him wrong They are solid cars, comfy, look funny if your short as the front is quite high and hides most of the driver from view in the rear mirror of the car in front. They are quick, and rev very very low, when idle reve near 0! Pulls well. Corners well. Bust IMO just not as fun and as quick as the 6, close but not close enough. Also you do get problems with them, as you do with most cars, but on my brothers VRS they seem to be expensive to put right. ________________________________________ JAMMA "M44YHW" MAYHEWLOSE WEIGHT NOW - ASK ME HOW - NUTRI-FIX GTi6 LPG, The best of both worlds! 2006: 1997 R reg 306 1.4 Miami - Diablo Red - DEAD 2007: 1999 V reg 306 1.4 Meridian - Diablo Red - SOLD 2007-09: 1998 S reg 306 GTi6 - Diablo Red - DEAD 2009-10: 1998 R reg Corsa 1.2 - Blue - SOLD 2010-13: 2001 Y reg 306 GTi6 LPG - Diablo Red - DEAD 2013 - 2013: 2000 X reg GTi6 LPG - Moonstone Blue - DEAD 2013 - current: 2001 X reg GTi6 LPG - Diablo Red ]FOR SALE[/b] "I LIVE FOR THE 306" |
