I found this code in my ECU earlier (much thanks to Hovis mate Paul)

From searching online the fault code means 'fuel composition sensor' fault and/or issue.

Does anyone know where this sensor is? My problem is manifesting itself as a starting issue. Sometimes it will start first time sometimes it takes a few goes but otherwise she runs fine. Would this sensor be in fuel gauge sender unit?

Is this it? What the hell is this thing anyway still dont know what it does?

goes to the fuel vapour canister on the inside of the drivers wing, presumably a valve. mine also doesn't work, mainly because it is decomposing on a tip somewhere because i got shut of it

Also as soon as the ecu was cleared and the engine started up the fault code returned straight away.

Not sure but i will find out. It was a red hand held unit with lcd display. I didnt use the thing but you had to input a the vehicle type into it and i dont think the gti6 was specifically listed.

Im begininng to wonder if its the lambda causing problems Hmm

very much doubt thats correct..

you need to scan it on a peugeot planet diag

even the launch kit we use doesnt pick up a few sensors on the 6.. but the planet system is awesome!

Cheers mab, yeah seems wrong to me. I've been hunting this starting issue for some time now. Seems a proper diagnostic is the only thing left to do now. I'm running out of ideas.

Actually there's one last thing to try. From the symptoms it could possibly be a fuel pressure issue. Ages ago I pointlessly swapped my oe fuel pump and sender unit for a mickey mouse quentin hazel unit thinking the original sounded rough. This was back when I was living with the rents and put it in the garage loft but the old man lobbed it out I think.

So the plan is to hit the scrap yards to try and find an original to use to see if that cures it - then try a diagnostic. It's annoying because otherwise she runs fine but you look like a right tit sometimes when it takes 3 or 4 cranks over to get the.thing started.

nope, its 3 bar max affected by vacuum in the inlet.

try turning the ignition on+off a few times to prime the system, could be the one way valve in the Fuel pump has failed.

So the above problem could also be an air leak on the mani.

Yeah Paul said about this yesterday, it would explain why it takes a few goes to get it going. Gonna head down to the scrappy in a bit and see if there's any gtis down there. Got a half day today.

In the mean time I will give that a go and see if it does the trick.

Been down this route, all air leaks on the standard air intake have been fixed. Phillipm manifold gasket and injector seals have been renewed. Def no air leaks.

yup, as long as the estate isn't diesel or a late TU, or a phase1.
