Hi,

I need to source a replacement peugeot steering wheel for my 'sticky' one (GTi6 PH1)

Are there any differences in fitment between the years?

As a check I thought about seeing if there were more that one Boss Kit listed for aftermarket wheels - MOMO listed a specific kit for 306 to 1998 (also fits all 106 all years).

Any advice would be greatfully received.

BTW - tried to add this post to TECHNICAL/INTERIOR section but got a message saying I can't post there - not sure why.

CLIVE.

Probably because you are not a paid member, iirc all phases were the same with the rallye being the exception. You should be fine regardless of the age.

Thanks pebbles 167

Any idea regarding fitment of a leather wheel from others 306's - a cabriolet for example? (is it just the Rallye I need to avoid).

Thanks.

The rallye one isnt leather its just rubber IIRC

all the steering wheels will fit its just the airbag shape thats a problem really as I know some phase 1's have a different shape airbag

heres the 3 types I know of:

(obviously they do leather and non-leather variations of the same styles)

phase 1

phase2/3

phase2/3 non-sport

the ph2 and 3 are the same iirc other than the lion being silver on the ph3

as far as i know the phase 2 and 3 are straight swap in terms of which type of airbag you have as the plug is the same, but i'm unsure for the phase 1

Also mate, from experience stay away from the "non-sport" wheels, they have a tenancy to collapse at the top and feel like shit to use Thumbs up

No, there's a difference in production materials between the phase 2 and 3 wheels.

The phase 2 one gives the same 'sticky' problem as the phase 1 wheel after a certain level of wear is reached whereas the phase 3 one does not.

There'll be two different boss kits as a lot of phase 1's had no driver's airbag Thumbs up

I did notice they go "shiney" although i've not delt with a "stickey" phase 2 wheel

Sticky is what you might end up with with continued use of your shiny wheel. I have a sticky phase 2 wheel, its been worn down so much that its lost its glossy finish, and i can only assume the oil, grease and general crap that on my hands on my home journey from work can only make it worse.

They are well worth getting retrimed! Its also common problem on the Clio Sports and they look great afterwards. Not too expensive either, think a few companies advertise on ebay?
