or a knackered crank sensor, or double relay.

got 12v at the injectors and coilpacks?

Touch the tip of the spark plug to the engine body, the spark should be visible, unless you are in bright sunshine. Dont touch the spark plug with your hands, just keep hold of the insulated coil pack.

Edit: didn't see page 2 of posts

Easiest way to drain the tank is the big rubber 90 degree elbow at the base of the filler neck, just get a few big buckets!!!

Most likely problem in my opinion, what phase car is it?

I can unlock it for you if you want, but as others have said I would check the crank sensor. I think the relay is OK given it's switching the fuel pump on / off.

thanks guys, I'm going to try changing the crank sensor first as it's a fairly cheap fix and wont do any harm if it's not that then.

an unlocked ecu may be next. how can you tell for sure if your ecu is actually locked?

It's now fully back on the road!...got it MOT'd on Thursday which allowed me get it taxed and it's driving like it did 3 years ago...amazing considering it's not turned a wheel in so long, and good to be driving it again.....I've missed it!

Only problem is it keeps cutting out when I dip the clutch at lights etc....is this the old stepper motor/ICV that's knackered?

Most likely cause, I have a good condition one here you can have Whistle

Might be yours clogged up, bit of a clean usually sets it right for a couple of months and then they tend to go again. Once they're on their way out they get a bit tempremental
