hey guys, thought i would put up a small project thread about my 6 although it wont be anywhere near as good as most of the others as i just dont have the cash and time to do what i would like.

Bought the car in January off of a friend (who really regrets selling it)
with 6 months mot, and a months tax with 123k on the clock i think

and it looked like this

after i picked it up first thing i wanted was a set of cyclones which i picked up for £80

and refurbed/sprayed myself in for graphite grey

I then, stupidly put the 6 off the road as i got a mondeo st24, as i had always wanted one (after having a 1.8 and 2x 2.0), and i wish i never, as i was so dissapointed by it. the 6 is a much more fun car to drive and a smidgen quicker.

anyways, after running that for 3months i decided this has to go, so i concentrated on putting my pug back on the road, fitted new rear discs pads and calipers, o/s hand break cable, clutch cable, strut top mounts with bearings and front arb links
And put it for its mot

it failed on headlight adjustment (which they sorted straight away for me) and a track rod end.
£12 later and an hours work i fitted 2 new tre's and put it for a re test the folling weekend and it passed.

I went to the scrappies and picked up a silver phase3 dash surround,ph3 crystals new fans and cowling and an interior heater controler.

fitted the fans when i got home but wouldnt work, turns out it was a corroded pin on the fan side of the multi plug. on my original fans, and on the new fans both motors were seized. so i stripped the wiring off of the new fans and fitted to the old and they work a treat.
i then painted the brakes yellow.

and this is how it stands

next on the sheets would be to lower it but not before i do my timing belt.

so over the next couple of weeks i will be getting:

timing belt kit + water pump
richw alloy crank pully
a chassis repair plate for the top engine mount
and a baker bm engine mount kit.

all of this will be carried out at the same time. cant wait to reduce the engine movements Smile

Whilst the forum was down I joined detailing world to keep me busy, and a young guy (17) that lives an hour away started chatting to me, he joined dw 3 years ago and seems to know his stuff, he got the chance to work with polished bliss for a day to get some pointers on detailing. so anyways, i asked how much he would detail my car for as i had seen some pictures of his previous work, and he said he would do it for nothing as its a hobby and he loves doing it.

So he is arriving tomorrow to detail my car and i seriously cant wait, as i love keeping my car clean but have never detailed. so i will be getting some more pics up tomorrow, before and after shots of swirl marks etc

never really tested it top end after being cought speeding previously. some people have said 145-150 but i dont know how much of that is true. the clock goes upto 150mph. and i seem to remember someone saying they got 147 or something on gps, which would effectively be off the clock as they read that far out when you are up at speeds like that.

well... we spent five hours today detailing the car, took a few pictures but couldnt get any of the swirl marks as the sun didnt appear like it was meant to.

Were both just really glad it didnt rain lol untill after anyways and got a couple pictures of the beading.

i didnt bother taking before pictures as the car looked exactly the same as it did in the last pictures.

So after a good clay barring session the paint felt so smooth and we took off alot of muck :

This was one of the doors.

and this was the boot only!! and this was after a pressure wash and hand wash

and this was from the rear of the front door, to the filler cap and from the bottom of the window to the rear arch.

Alan at work

with dodo juice lime prime

whilst alan used the rotary, i got to work on the wheels tyres and arches

and a couple of finished pictures

and then it rained Smile and got some beading, sorry about pics, these few were taken on my phone.

absolutely delighted with how the car turned out, i really dont feel the pictures do it any justice as the sun wasnt out. Sad

Finally getting some bits together for my pug Smile

about three weeks ago i was waiting to get paid to get a timing belt kit, two days before payday i was flicking through scot ads and luckily someone was selling a kit and water pump, £80 ono, so i got it for £70

its a QH kit all brand new in box.

also to go with the timing belt Rich W kindly sent me a nice shiney alloy crank pully
and my GE short shift also arrived

didnt realise how small the short shift was going to be lol.

today on my lunch break i picked up upper and lower OMP strut braces, the lower one is brand new in bag, got them both for £50

and from the same guy i got second hand coilovers, i know they are probably not that great but they will do me untill next spring when i can afford bilsteins. these are TA Technics i think they are the equivelant to racelands by the looks,

not only did i get two coilovers like i expected, i got a near new one with a burst shock, and a brand new one aswell never been fitted so will keep that as a spare and he chucked in the brand new rear dampers for free. £60 all in Smile

next thursday im getting a full interior of of him for £60 aswell. cant wait as the ratchet in my seat is knackered.
