Having problems with bird droppings from seaguls. I've not got metalic paint just a flat black, & seagul droppings keep attacking my paintwork leaving a dull rough patch underneath. I've used various scratch removers but none i've used work. I've heard of wet sanding but not sure how to go about it.Any tips on how to remove the stains is welcome ________________________________________ Team Diesel |

Get a shotgun, prevention is better than cure There'll be products that help, but essentially the alkalinity of the poosplats erodes the surface, and nothing short of a respray will ever get that lacquer back. Wet sanding's risky, do you have a dual action polisher or anything? ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

Wet a paper towel with warm water, place it on the poo and wait ten or so min and it should easily wipe off.________________________________________ Pug fee`ver,Pick a Bogey, buy a Pug. Auto Glym Super Resin Polish, or maybe Autobalm wax might bring back some of the gloss, but sanding is far too course. Try some Megs ScratchX but use lightly.________________________________________ Spanner Monkeys Monkey SpannerForum Search Clicky |

I've heard of that Scratch X it's "suppose" to be good stuff but i've seen youtube videos that don't rate it very highly. Worth a try though . ________________________________________ Team Diesel |

Bird poo has a strong acid to it, so it should really be taken off as soon as poss, especially on darker coloured cars.As i dont know what the thickness of the paint is in that area, it could be lacquer thats gone, you could use a paint thickness gauge before trying any compound to get rid of it. ________________________________________ Pug fee`ver,Pick a Bogey, buy a Pug. Surely its got some clear coat as standard ?If it has not, then its burnt the paint and a respray of the area would sort it out, using compound would make it look worse. ________________________________________ Pug fee`ver,Pick a Bogey, buy a Pug.
