Was wondering if its worth making a panel up to sit under the rear and stop the rear bumper catching air. Almost like a rear diffuser or is it something thats not worth bothering with.

Anyone done anything similar?

there's mixed opinions, some say it helps, others say it creates an air pocket and not much turbulence anyway.

Anyone got a wind tunnel? Laugh

easier to just cut out the middle of the bumper.

you need to concentrate on making it handle before worrying about aero stuff...

Quite interesting - I am definitely going to install a standard factory undertray at the front to stop muck getting into the engine bay and maybe smooth the underbody airflow a bit - the Rallye needs all the help it can get to improve fuel economy. The 10% improvement achieved by the Prius in the article would be very welcome given petrol prices! Lots of new-ish cars have those projections in front of the front wheels (front wheels are big source of frontal drag according to that article) - they could be quite easy to make up.

I saw a scale model of a 306 in a wind tunnel. The dead zone at the back of the window is the main part to worry about.
