Hi,

Ive searched and read all the threads re interior water leaks. I've checked all on my car but this one seams to be slightly different. Wondered if anyone had come across something similar..........

When raining heavily the o/s front carpet is getting soaked. There is no sunroof and the inner membrane is in tact and it has now been sealed. The water is getting in somewhere past the seal at the top of the door......then running down the door frame and down in front of the door card then onto the lower seal and onto the floor.

I have checked the roof part of the seal with no apparent breaks, and the main door seal has been changed twice with no effect.

I have even tried bending the top of the door to try and make it seal tighter. Whilst this did make a difference, the door is then twisted and affecting how it catches on the striker plate etc.

The top of the door seems to be contacting exactly the same as the n/s door with the seal being trapped by top of the door. How any water is getting passed I can't work out. HELP please........

The water is deffo coming in at the top of the door then running down the door frame and down in front of the door card. I can watch it. The problem is, I can see nowhere where the water is getting past the seal.

is it travelling inside the seal? Squeeze the seal at floor level and see if it has water in it. if so just slit it a little to allow it to drain out. worked on mine. Smile

Thanks for the reply.

When water is poured above the drivers door, eventually you can watch the water run down the inside of the door in front of the door card and drip down onto the door seal on the door step. It then over flows and runs onto the carpet. When you open the door, you can see that water has run down the inside of the upper door frame (where it is supposed to be trapped against the roof trim door seal) and run down the inner window frame and down in front of the door card.

The water is deffo getting past the roof trim water seal where it is supposed to seal against the very top lip of the door. But I cannot see any gaps of holes or breaks etc and it is a mystery how it is getting past.

try this

Remove door seal and squeeze the bit that goes over the metal frame so that it closes the gap, Then put it back on the car using a piece of wood and hammer so as to get a nice tight snug fit.

This used to work for me especially if the seal had been removed to install stereo leads?

Its just a bit of naff design but a good fitting seal is key to it working Wink

At the moment my car is seeing water though the passenger side alarm sensor thing under very specific conditions. Like when slowing down. Only does it very rarely too.
