This pug has taken my wallet right out of my pocket and swallowed it

The car has been overheating towards the 110 degrees and never used to do this

So i took the thermostat out, put in a boiling hot water , and it opened up. So that wasn’t the problem ?

Bottom of the radiator was leaking we found so i replaced it with a brand new one
Now the car still overheats
There are no leaks what so ever
I don’t have to ever top up the radiator with coolant as it stays its level very nicely
i have bleed the system numerous of times and still no result
I have no idea what is going on

Here is a video of what is happening to me on idle - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98wXuEPyxXY

Any ideas people?
thanks

One of your cooling fans has stopped working for some reason, so you have no low speed fans and only one fan when the high speed kicks in (normally at 107deg) I would guess.

If you have an AC then you have a brown sensor.
When ignition is off, unplug it and put ignition back.
What should happen is that the low speed fans come on (both) for ~2 secs and then both should turn to full speed and stay on. Any other type of operation points to a fault. Again, if you have an AC.
My car (P1 S16) had the same symptoms when the right fan was knackered - fan motor was replaced.

Looking at your vid it does seems odd that when the high speed fans should kick in they don't seem to but what does cools the engine only a bit.
You sure bleeding was done well? Also, do you know for sure that the water pump is OK? Rad cap?

Yes, by AC I mean aircon.
The brown plug is near the thermostat housing only at the back of the engine, in line with the blue CTS. Can be just accessed.
BTW, if you turn on the AC, do any of your fans come on?
Water pump: are all water hoses ~ the same temp (feeling)
Oh, and by the way, if unplugging the brown sensor changes the way fans work then the sensor itself is at fault ~30 pounds and a spanner Smile

What you see (blue plug) is the thermostat housing.
That is on the left side of the car (left meaning if you sit behind the steering wheel), accesible from the battery side. It is ~ in the midle of the cylinder head, below the vacuum pump. The blue CTS is visible in both pics for reference.
Can you repost the pic? Dont see it.

Got the pic finally.
So.
It is in the green section, accessible from the blue section.
Mind you, it is way below what your photo shows, taken from above.
That big alloy thing in the middle of your pic (on the border of blue/green) is the vacuum pump, visible in my pic. Below that really.

Do you have air conditioning? Because the brown sensor is available in the AC version only. Although you say you have a double fan setup (usually meaning an AC is there) it could be a "custom" feature.

Looks a bit odd, things going haywire... Smile
Relays OK? The 3 you see between the fans.
Next I would check the "bitron" unit under the left wing, right about where the horn is, brown box, about the size of maybe two cigarette packs (I mean replace it with one that is defo good) - this is the easier job.
And apart from the wiring all thats left is the fan motor itself - mine was replaced because the original sometimes came on and then sometimes didn't.
Also, if the fuse was to be blown the fans would remain on for a couple of minutes after shutting the car off - but might be worth a check.
