Hi,

So our track car is on a limited mileage policy.

Obviously we arent insured when on the track and so the mileage we do on track is taken from our allowed road mileage, reducing the amount we can drive.

Is there a plug on the back of the dash that controls the mileage counter?

Does it also control the speedo etc?

I know its unlikely it will work like that but if you dont ask Wink

Thanks

Alex

probably not a single one on its own, though there is one plug on the VSS on the right hand side of the diff.

What about the rev counter as well?

The speedo is pretty pointless on a trackday so as long as we had the rev counter it would be fine.

Buy a set of second hand clocks for use on a track day to get the functionality. For the purpose of insurance when car not being used replace with original set.

I've a spare set of clocks if you decide the above route.

You reckon? Who's the victim?

If you can live without the speedo then just unplug the VSS as said, and keep a simple spreadsheet of how many laps you do at each circuit * circuit length so the missing mileage is known, which will keep you on the right side of the law if you ever sell the car.

edit: Although I don't know if the ECU will object to this. I'm pretty sure the ECU does use the VSS signal for something. I recall getting odd running issues when my VSS failed a couple of years back (odd stalling, hesitation, revving, etc).

Maybe go with Thug's suggestion to be on the safe side.
