could it be the block has got a crack in it causing the bubbles?

If he was unlucky enough to overheat and crack the block yeah. Try a propper bleed first as said, then read and comply with the forum rules on propper English and have a stab at a decently worded post like a good chap won't you Dav?

Good luck though, hope its just an airlock.

I'd be more concerned with the fact it was out of water and then overheated ?

I think so too, HGs don't fail within 100 miles unless the thing detonates or the surfaces of the head or deck were in a crap state. +1 for damage caused by incorrect bleeding but he may be lucky.

Call me stupid, but I mixed the header tank feed pipe an the heater matrix pipe up would this explain my problem? I swapped them round to the same as my mates 205 an no more bubbles in header tank.

Header tank feed pipe? Dunno

From the block you should have a top hose feeding to the top of the rad and two heater matrix pipes, an in and an out. What pipe are you on about?
