After a recent trip to the ring i have decided its time to get some better suspension for my 6.

From doing searches on here it seems that the Bilstein B6 or B8 setup is popular. However i am unsure whether to go for B6 or B8's.

I have always been wary of lowering cars and if the price difference was lots of £'s them i would defo go for B6's but in that we are talking £5 a side between the b6 and b8 i am wondering whether to bite the bullet and go for the b8's with Eibach's.

The car is a weekend road toy which does occasional track days and hopefully yearly trip to the ring.

Also if i were to buy B6's can anyone recommend good springs?

Any advice would be most welcome.

B6 and B8 are the same, except that the B8 is for shorter springs.

Eibachs work well with the B8. Not too much of a drop and a decent B road ride quality, possibly a bit soft for track.

I would go B8, eibach, -20mm drop on the rear, hybrid rear arb and put in new original beam mounts. Decent tyres on lighter 15", 7" wide wheels and you'll be away. You can lose a huge amount of weight on the wheels (4kg a corner) and it makes a massive difference.

Yeh sounds like b8' with Eibach's is becoming my prefered option.

already replaced the rear beam mounts with Lemforder ones(same as pug i think??)

Does this hybrid rear arb make much difference? and if so how much £ we talking here? I have thought about going for the thicker torsiion bars but need to keep costs to a minimum. Wife and kids can be such a drain on your finances lol

Don't worry so much about the torsion bars if you are using eibachs - they work fine together, especially on a mostly road car. Just don't lower it too much.

Its a very good upgrade getting the arb I think. There is a thread about them in the for sale section

I've just returned from a trip to Europe in mine, which involved some laps of the ring, along with 1200 miles of motorway driving. I have the Bilstein B8's and Eibach 30mm lowering springs on the front, with Bilstein B6 and Xsara VTS torsion Bars on the back (Lowered 20mm or so).

Ride comfort is everybit as good as standard, not much harsher, the car coped well with 3 passangers and a boot FULL of luggage/tools etc etc.

Handling on the ring was fantastic, the car behaving very well at big speeds, was predictable at all times and was very flat in the corners - all these thoughts of mine were confirmed by my mate following in his corsa Vxr.

I wouldnt choose anything else suspension wise. All IMO of course.

Thanks guys i'll be going for this set up of B8/Eibach set up for the front and some b6/b8's for the rear(same part according to Motorsport World).

May have to wait till i build up some pennies for a hybrid arb and torsion bars though, but they are now on the list.

Just need to wok out where to get the pennies from now lol.

Thanks for the advice.

Hi I ve got bilstien b8 with eibach front springs brilliant setup for a b roads. Money worth spent but I would advise you when you, get these shock it says in the instructions that there is bump stops fitted inside the shocks, but I would advise you to fit the original bump stops, otherwise it will knock over bumps. I got the shocks from euro car parts who were good on price.

Bar the wheels I have the set up AdamB has said. In addition I fitted vts 21mm torsion bars and 205 motorsport rear billies, and I am well happy with it!

Give Miles @ Pugracing a shout for the billies and eibachs. He sorted me out a treat Smile

As said in my other post, ECP have lost the contract so unless they have old stock you won't get any more from them.

KAM have the B8 fronts listed for the 306, no rears shown but they do have the 205 group N tarmac dampers which would work.

Was going to keep the original bumpstops but the KAM website says the B8' have internal bumpstops. Surely don't need both? Don't want it to knock either though. Advice please guys
