Been using the Dead battery FAQ to try and diagnose why the battery went flat when the car was sitting for a week or so on the drive without being started. I've started looking for the earthing points but I'm pretty dimwitted with car electrics so I was wondering if somebody could maybe take photos of the points, circle them with MS paint or whatever and then post them or email me them. Would be much appreciated. |

Look for green cables with a yellow trace on them. One in drivers footwell, one high up on passenger c pillar. One each side in engine bay behind headlights. Plus main one from battery to gearbox. |

I managed to find the one on the drivers side, Presume you have to remove the AC part to get access to it though? Can't for the life of me find the one beside the ABS pump but I will persist. Does the one going to the gearbox have a grey braid round it? If that is it it looks pretty oily so will clean it up and hopefully that will help. |

Have you checked your alarm siren? They fail quite commonly and can drain the battery, mine was doing this until I replaced it.________________________________________ Bye bye Sundance Kid |

Alarm siren has been removed since about 3 years as it wouldn't stop going off! Got to some of the earth points and cleaned them up but no idea if it has made a difference yet. Noticed that the battery symbol is dimly lit on the dash and that when the car is running there isnt much increase in voltage, making me think the alternator is shagged. Cant tell if there is a parasitic drain as the MM im using is analogue and its difficult to see what current is being drawn when stopped. Might buy a cheap digital one or 'borrow' one from work. |
