I'm getting really confused over bore sizes and I suspect the answer is simple.

I've bought some 87mm wossner pistons, is it the bore that is 87mm or the actual piston?

In other words, what do I tell my engineer to bore it out to?

Surely he should know or be able to find out the limits and clearances etc? If not maybe try somewhere else?

Try pm'ing Pete. He is in Stoke and has had the same work done. click here to pm him

Well he said he will try and find a spec sheet for them and let know on moday, so I'll wait until then. Just wanted to know if its the incredibly obvious 87mm or if I'm missing something.

were you having it done i had mine done at Dave rushton in smallthorne an he worked it out it's all to do with how much the piston expands wen hot the skirt expands less than the top of the piston due to material been different thickness's.

I'm having it done at Dave Rushtons lol yeah he said all of that but I'm a good customer of his so he likes to give me some stick when I get something wrong! I originally told him to bore it to 87mm but then I got confused about if the pistons were 87 or the bore was 87.

I would imagine it's for an 87mm bore, the piston should measure a bit smaller.

This should be fairly obvious to an engine machinist?!
