im looking at this on e bay: aem

is it the right on i need?
do i remove my original lambda for this one or is it better to have an extra boss welded on and use this one just for the gauge?

is there any advantage to performance running the wideband and ditching the narrowband, does the ecu then listen to it at all engine loads/rpm unlike the narrowband?

1 yes fit it in place of the original sensor

2 they are said to give a finer degree of control over the signal, but it doesn't change when the ecu uses the signal as that's down to the ecu software

ive just read the f&q thread for these and its confused me slightly, it says to tie the narrowband lambda sensor up behind the battery tray to stop it giving a temp fault and to use a resistor aswell.
do i really need to do do this?
i thought it was just a case of fitting gauge and new lambda.

THEY WON'T WORK IN PLACE OF THE ORIGINAL*.

*At least I couldn't get mine to. It kept flagging errors up on the diagnostics.

I found that when I lifted off the throttle the AEM went blank as it couldn't take a reading, this in turn upset the ECU.

You may be able to change the settings on the AEM but I never did.

Did you weld on an extra boss then and use both lambdas? the standard lambda for the ecu and use the wideband for the gauge only.

Yeah all three of us had these problems, which was a big shame mine is still the only lambda used in my car thats because it doesnt hestitate in the summer for some reason. As soon as it starts happening again, when it gets cold I will probably weld in another boss.

Mabz didn't have this problem, so unless we fitted ours wrong.

Na that's pretty much it. There's a FAQ on here of how to fit one. Maybe try it first without the second boss to see if you can get yours to work.

Finally got round to change the setting on the back of this gauge to P03 and it makes the car run lovely. No stuttering or hesitating, so all good so far.
I think I need to try the others to see whether this is the best mode, as some of the numbers are different to what P04 were. Not sure if this is a bad thing or whether I was just use to the digits I saw on the gauge before.

P03 has no running problems. or ask Mabz, as it seems like his works perfectly fine on the standard ecu.

Think I will just use the extra boss and have the wideband just for the gauge

When I get a minute I'll do the same and see if I get the same result.

Cool let me know. See if it still flags up faults on your diagnostic. I'd like to know if I'm doing any damage having it on this setting Dunno

If it is reading ok then I doubt it is to be honest.

When you boot it what AFR readings do you get?

Hmm. Mine is running REALLY rich then. I get 9ish. No wonder my cats keep getting f*cked.

It may be time for my bigger restrictor ring.
