hi im new 2 the forum just got a 306 2.0 16v xsi, bought it with blown head gasket cheap, ive done headgasket and had head skimmed and engine runs but getting hot quick the water system just wont bleed, the fans work and the heater matrix has been bypassed as it was leaking, the metal connection on the top raditor hose that connects to thermostat housing looks abit tatty do you think this could b sucking in air or should i look elsewere thanks wayne

take the thermostat out and put it in boiling water if it opens it works if not its f*cked, or u could try flushing the water system there could be a build up off lime scale. How much did u pay for ur headgasket all together ?

its cost me about £150 at minute to fix done the work my self, thermostat working fine its new and i tested it before fitting

Put 2 of the wheels onto the curb to try and coax the air through. I had it in my birds Zx where the Bugger wouldn't bleed after doing a head rebuild. Got hacked off in the end and drilled a tiny hole in the thermostat. Been fine since and 3 years down the line still going strong. And col... Where ya from in maidstone? what car you got? Come to a meet fella. There's loads of us in the Kent mob and would be great to have another... Smile
