Hi Guys,

Brought a GTi6 which has a snapped cambelt and in need of some information.

How do you go about timing the engine back up? Is there an order to it such as time the cams then lock them in and then lock in the flywheel?

Is there any order which needs to be done and also what needs to be timed back up.

Thanks for your help,
Luke

Look in the FAQ section...

It will need a head rebuild if the belt has snapped, it's guaranteed to have bent some valves. You will have a tapper if not done properly.

Still learning how this forum works as it is a little different to others I have previously been on. Will check out the FAQ section Smile

Ok ... had a look through the FAQ Section at some of the guides and think I have answered my question of how you retime an engine that is out of time ...

seems from what I read that you just lock it off as you do when changing a cambelt so there is no specific order that things have to be done to retime it.

Am I right in thinking that guys?

Thanks,
Luke
