So Fellas here is a little update on my 6. Tha car has treated me well the last few months. I installed the Bilstein B12 pro-Kit and I must say i am very happy with it. It corners and drives much better than with the old 10 year old suspension, while retaining a nice amount of confort when driving long journeys.

Here some pics when we installed the Bili's

The instalation however didn't went without any problems. I snaped 2 bolts that secure the shockabsorber over the top mounts. And also forgott to put the protective seal on one of them while it was already installed. so off it came again to put in the missing part. However i found it stupid that you don't get any nice blues ones for the front shocks which means you need to use the old black ones. Next day I went to my local tyre centre to get the wheels aligned.

2 days later i noticed my car's fuel cunsumption had increased considerably, the car also seemed not to pull as well as usually. Also there was a nasty sound coming from the engine compartment when driving above the 4k rpm line or when downshifting. My first thought was that the exhaust had snaped somewhere, this however would have no incident on the fuel cunsumption.
So back to the garage it went again. Roll eyes

Turned out my exhaust manifod was cracked Shock Shock Shock I had not heard of this happening before, and after a short search on here and finding out the engine had to come out or the subframe and what a shitty job this was supposed to be i was gutted to say the least. After a quick search on service box and finding out a new exhaust manifold costs 880€ Roll eyes i was extremely happy to know i had my brothers engine lying in my garage with a tidy manifold.

While there i replaced both gaskets, the exhaust manifold one and the one that goes to the cat with genuine PUG ones.
And here are some pics of the culprit.

By the looks of it someone tried to weld it before, however the person who did it completely f*cked up the job Unsure

The car now drives and sounds lovely again Thumbs up

And here is another quick one Fellas, i hope someone is willing to shed some light on this as i just cant figure it out, and my Mechanics are not convinced at all by the quickshift i bought from pug1off when i ordered my solid rear beam mounts.
My mates actually say that there is no way the little screw of the quickshift can stay secure without slipping every now and then. I also don't know where exactly it needs to be put as there are no instructions with the part and the FAQ's i read on here always covered other types of quickshifts.

Here is the quickshift:

Where do i need to put it Dunno

SO does anyone of you guys is using the same quickshift?? If so have you had any problems regarding slipping? Any help would be greatly apreciated Thumbs up

Thanks for looking,
CheersBig grin

Last weekend I went to holand with the missus for an extendet weekend. We stayed in a nice hotel, and guess which room I got LOL LOL LOL

Now who "lives for the 306"???

Whilst there I had a look at halfords where i bought this for not even 25€:

My car's paintwork is a f*cking nightmare. Before I rescued the shell it had stood outside for almost 2 years. The paint is rough as f*ck and full of swirl marks. Now i know the car will need a paint job in the near future, but last time me and a mate got very good results after claying and polishing just the bonnet. The paint on the bonet actually feels smooth compared t the rest of the car.
So I got me some clay and that Turtle wax colour thing to see if it's any good. Any one ever used this turtle wax colour magic polish?? I'm just afraid i will stop halfways as the bonnet on it's own took 2 bloody hours.... but hey i'll do my best Razz

And here she is tucked up in our heated garage Big grin

Hello fellow forum members, It has been some time since i updated my project thread so here is a little starter as a preparation of what is about to happen to the old girl.

Since joining the forum a few years ago, i have always followed other people's incredible project threads with much jealousy. Back then i simply did not have the means to carry out any extensive/expensive work on the car. Now that i have a new job, where the wages are much better i have decided to go for it and supercharge the old girl so it can keep up with the modern hatchbacks.
All my close mates and my brother drive nice new fast cars, however i know that with the right upgrades the 6 won't need to feel ashamed when standing next to the TTRS, RS4, S3, Golf Mk6 GTI, 2,7 Bi-Turbo S4 Avant and BMW's 335D and other stuff.

However i wont go mental and super high boost mine. I think that a reasonably lightened low boost 6 with a Quaife LSD, eventually KW V2 coil-overs (just put a spanking new Bilstein B12 Pro-Kit), uprated rear beam (21mm TBs and Hybrid ARCool, nice lightweight alloys (which you will see below) with a nice and exquisite brake set-up behind them will be lots of fun. For the outside i will get the whole car resprayed as well as the whole engine bay before fitting the sc'd lump back in.

So at the end of the month i'll start purchasing all the bits, or possibly buy an already sc'd 6 and transplant everything over. That is the main point i am thinking over right now, as with my budget i can either go ahead and buy a DIY kit from Rich (which will be lots of more hassle) or buy a nice sc'd china which all of you might have seen in the classified section. I am still considering both options and i will have a chat with carl (aka mech repairs) about this next week when he comes over to the ring.

But now, i yesterday went to Liege to pick up a set of wheels, which were a real bargain. They are ET16 as well so will fit directly on the 6 without silly spacers. so 100km later and with 400€ less in my wallet i had these in my garage

They are in great condition, some little marks here and there, but that's ok as they will get powder coated in .........

Porsche GT3 RS orange Cool
by a German company that is well known for their professional pc results.

So as said this will get updated in the coming months, first i need to get the old girl MOT'd this week before i start all the modifications. If you guys have any advices or thoughts for my future intentions i am always grateful for some useful feed back. Thumbs up

Cheers and thank you for looking

Any of the Low or High Boost owners willing to give me their advice on which way to go with the conversion???

Also can anyone who also uses the quick shift from Pug1off give me a review on the piece (does it slipp often?) and a pic to show where and how it is properly installed?

Cheers

Looks like decent progress Marco. I'm glad you find the Bilstein B8 and Eibach combo comfortable on the road as mines lovely, yet plenty stiff enough for hard cornering.

Cant help with the quickshift or the boost questions either im afraid....

Wheels look very very nice though, a nice lairy orange colour will look dead funky.

My advice would be just start off with low boost, get use to it and you never know the engine might blow up and give you a reason to forge it out. The fact that super high boost isn't something your thinking about you won't waste money going from low boost to high boost, all I'll suggest is getting the bigger intercooler from the off as that's the only thing that's technically upgraded.

Then you can collect parts here and there over the coming months and it won't feel like your spending so much at once.

That's what I was going to do before Rich's came up for sale.

Thanks for the advice Paul. You have been there and done that. I am in conversations with some people from the forum concerning the conversion. I just don't know how it will be done though. But one thing is sure, As soon as Spring is there the good old girl

Just a small update the car passed the MOT without even a single advisory point. Very pleased.

However as soon as i got it back, the Air bag light is constantly flashing, my indicators went out on me and the rear beam was knocking like Hell Dunno

I checked and cleaned the fuse of the indicators, but still no joy. After 15 minutes i tried the hazard lights to see if they would light up, and ...... voilà the indicators were back. f**king unbelievable.
The air bag light is still flashing all the time which is getting on my nerves. And the rear beam.... well after a very loud knock yesterday when i drove to the gas station the knocking disappeared. Dunno
Before it went to the MOT i got underneath her to check it and it was the left plate that holds the ARB that came loose and was causing the knock when changing directions (specially in right corners)

These cars are a bloody misery LOL But that wont stop me from driving 400 km to a little s**t town in France to get my new stoppers and another 400 km back. Well i'll post some pics of them when i have them.

Good morning fellow members, so here are the brembo brakes i picked up yesterday Big grin
What can i say i got them for a reasonable price, brand new and have never had brake fluid in them. They are f**king HUGE, i never thought they would be that big to be honest. New these would cost over 1k €. I am now picking up the fitting kit from Citroen which is another 114€ (this is all new bolts, calliper adaptors, and brake vents which i will elaborate on once they turn up. Then i still need to source a set of braided brake lines, these will cost... hold on... 145€ Shock I know in the UK these cost next to nothing but i am forced to have a set with TüV approval so i'll have to bite the bullet. Then i need to choose the discs (prices from 110€ for standard ones to 280 for Tarox jobbies) and some good brake pads and some new and better brake fluid.

All in all the brake set-up will come to 1k ish € if my calculations are correct. What do you Fellas think? Are they overkill for Low Boost? I just love the look of them once they sit behind a set of powder coated OZ Ultras.

Enough talking... here some pictures:

Comments and advice are as always welcome Thumbs up

Nice brakes mate, I figured you'd got these as soon as you started being suggestive. Wink Can't really do overkill on brakes.

Tvr they weigh less than 2kg a piece i believe.
Magnesium.

Ballardpaul:
On the c2r2 they had 320mmx26 bells and rotors bit there are 307 hdi discs in that exact size

Fyi: marco you will need the piston inserts too from citroen sport shop.
Otherwise you will need a 32mm thick disc

These calipers can be found on The following cars:
Citroen c8 v6
Pug 807 v6
Citroen c2r2 rally cars
Mitsubishi evo 6, 7 and 8 I think
Subaru wrx sti's (gold ones)

The adaptors can be bought at citroen because the c2s have, as the 6, 83mm hub/calipers. So they made the kit to adapt them on the c2 for asphalt stages. As they fit the c2 they also fit everything else except the 106 .
The discs will be 302x26.as found on the 207 rc
Weight...... Cant teLl you to be honest, but they weight a fair amount tbh

I think they weight more mate, the magnesium stuff sounds like fairy tale mate. If they were the price would reflect that don't you think? I belivethey are plain high grade aluminum
