hi ive had the dash out and done the matrix recently well i took it out and ended up not refitting until 9 months later, the cars not on the road yet i just have a few hours on it when i have time but ive noticed that....

the dashlights come straight on when the ignition is turned on and the door alarm goes off with the door open until the ignition goes back off. i presume the sidelights on the outside of the car come on aswell but seen as i have no headlights in i dont know.

infact ive just thought, could that be where the problem is?

next... the wipers dont finish the cycle and return to the normal position when turned off, they just stop in the middle of the screen and to get them to normal you have to time it perfect to turn them off.

does anybody know if there is a light in the ashtray?

im off to test the headlights theory.
to infinity and beyond........
thanks brightyear

ive plugged in the headlights and it still does it and the outside lights dont come on until turned on by the switch.

are the dash lights ment to come on when the key is turned?
and is the warning buzzer to tell you that the lights are on or the keys are in the ignition or the door is open?

By dashlights do you mean the ones that come on when the headlights are on?
Think the buzzer goes off when you open the door with the lights on.
I'd check your headlight switch.
Wipers will either be the permanent feed to the motor or the motor itself.

Are you sure you put the wipers back on right? The motor turns the arm a full 360 degrees so it sound like your resting position is wrong, take the wipers off and refit them so they're aligned properly Thumbs up

Did you wire the boost guage up to the side lights in the end? if so you sure you've got it wired up right?

The wiper motor sounds like the switches in the bottom of the wiper motor have corroded. does it stop as soon as you let go of the wiper stalk but otherwise work as it should? It's sometimes possible to fix them but it's easier to just get a known working one and swap them over.

The boost gauge isn't wired in yet, I've found the live for the sidelights it's an orange wire but I thought I'd fix this problem before I wore the gauge in.

The wiper arms are in the correct position as they do a perfect swoop of the window, they don't go past the window into the roof and they don't go past the bottom of the window onto the slampanel.

Daft question but did u connect the big earth lead above the throttle pedal? sounds like something might be earthing itsself through your dash lights.
The buzzer sounds when u remove the key, open the door and leave the lights on.

I've fitted the bug earth near the throttle pedal yes but I was wondering if that was the problem, it does fit with the big washer doesn't it?
I'll take a pic of it tonight when I get back in

they all do that Unsure mine does anyway. i have to let it get to the bottom /resting position before turning them off LOL

actually, that's when i take key out. forget that. but when driving [ignition on] they should do what you say. are you trying it with ignition on / car running?

Also the headlight icon on the dash doesn't come on when lights are rurned on but if i remove the dimmer switch next to the headlight adjuster the icon comes up buzzer stops and the obvious one- dash backlights go out

ok, today while changing bulbs i thought id have a look at this and thought about the ashtray light and if there was one, so i removed the middle console bit and there was a empty plug for the ashtray light

, so my next thought is where is the plug so after looking i noticed that the plug from here:

is streched up to here:

so is this what should go to the ashtray light and if so what goes in the one way up the dash?

so curiosity got the better than me and i dettached the plug from right up the dash and id say from its position it should go to the ashtray, so i try it out and no interior dash sidelights at all or warning buzzer.
does anybody know if the plug is for the ashtray or not and if so where is the one that goes right up there behind the dash?
many thanks this is bamboozling me and im wondering wether dash has to come back out or not.

Have you plugged back in the dimmer switch? As if not you wont have any dash lights.

Yes dimmer is in mate, the dash lights worked until I unplugged the suspect plug that I think should go to the ashtray light( but they came on with the ignition which is wrong), if I'm right then I may have to get dash out to find the missing plug that should go up behind the dash.
If that is ment to be plugged in there then the ashtray light plug is missing and there's another problem.
I think that wire should go to the ashtray and the wire that goes up the dash is missing, I can't see it, does anybody know where it is?

After using the front wipers a few times they now go back to rest position, maybe the relay was stuck or soothing as car been stood.
