I've got a problem with my clutch peddle. It feels loose to press the clutch then it stiffens up about half way down. When I release it, it comes up fine till again about half way up it stops and I then have to place my foot behind the peddle & flick it back up with my foot. It seems to be getting worse though, as in my biting point is getting lower. It's almost as if the cable at the peddle end needs adjustment. Does anyone know how to cure this? It's on a HDi btw.

Clutch cable first because it's cheap. If that doesn't fix it, bushes, clutch etc.

As a quick fix, you could just move the large black part of the clutch cable further towards the gearbox half an inch. You'll find it clipped to the subframe under the car.

Or you could just treat the car to a nice cable and spanking new clutch - it will feel like a different car - trust me its money well spent Wink

Thats the one, there's no harm in getting every last bit from the clutch cable Smile

Just seen the two FAQ's for this job & it looks ok ish to do.
One question though! Is the process exactly the same on the 306 HDi? Not sure if the aircon pipes run in the same place as on the 6 Wink

Changed the cable today & my god was it a b**ch Angry i followed the FAQ guide but being a HDi i had to remote the bottom engine mount bolt because the pipe from the turbo was in the way of getting the cable out from under the car.
But in the end it was worth the cuts & blood LOL

My clutch cable went on my way to germany a few weeks ago, sounds a little bit similar to this, the biting point was moving all over the place until eventually i couldnt disengage it at all.
I reckon the auto adjuster went.
Luckily i had a spare cable on me so swapped the cables over on the belgian motorway hard shoulder just after a heavy shower Doh LOL

i think i have a simalar problem as i have nothin on the clutch til half way down but it still goes into gear properly. i got told my cable is fine but its the bar that links the box n clutch together is ceasing up or gettin rusty or something like that n should change the clutch at the same time as they gotta take the box off. any got any other ideas to what it could be.

That was an identical symptom to mine, it's fine now i've changed the cable. The auto adjuster in the cable had got water in it which didn't do it any good.
