hi folks my 205 gti6 is having rev/idling issues at the min

basicly the car does idle at 1k rpm nicely but as soon as you start driving the revs would stay at 2500 rpm when you change gear and it would continually stay at 2500 rpm until the car comes to a complete stand still where it would idle at 1000 rpm, basicly the revs dont drop when i press the clutch down whilst on the move

sometimes the car will behave itself properly but not for very long

i have changed the throttle body which is running a bit better than my old one but its still not quite right, and im about to buy another throttle body to try and cure it but i thought i would come ask on here first

any ideas folks, thanks in advance

The VTS engine in my 309 does this, and did while it was in the VTS. I suspect it's down to the MAP sensor or perhaps the ICV sticking. Thinking bout it it could be down to a small air leak that is being metered, so around the ICV perhaps.

I had this problem a while ago (I have the VTS in a 205) and it was the ICV. But defo check for air leaks too.

give the throttle pedal a tap from behind with your foot when it's at 2500

if it drops to 1000 then either the cable or throttle body needs a clean

if now, then air leak or ISC

Did you keep your old TPS when you changed the throttle body over?

The fault will be that the loom has not been wired in properly resulting in the icv not getting 12v, the car will run but there is an extra wire to power up the icv

This was happening on my engine while it was in the xsara on on a different loom/ECU. Plus Spiky had this loom running in his 205 GTi6 and afaik he didn't have issues. I'm convinced it's a sensor issue as the car does eventually idle perfectly and will pull away without needing any throttle input, so the ICV must be working ok.

i havent checked as it was a mate who changed the throttle body over but i did tell him to replace the whole entire throttle body over using all the stuff that was on the throttle body i picked up, to be honest i didnt even check what was on the throttle body lol! but the tps isnt that expensive so i may just get a new one anyway

im having the tps and icv off a local gti6 breaking so i will report back when i have swapped them over

Chances are the TPS was swapped with the TB then. Get a MAP sensor as well - check if you have a square or a round plug type sensor first, the plugs are different shapes and not interchangeable.

I vert much doubt that, as the wiring to the icv isn't touched when these looms are altered

Will only be 1 of the 3 things in my post above

Check your throttle body is actually closing fully
