Hey guys, I have read around on the forums but there are a few things i just want to clarify.

My belt snapped on my 6 the other day and im in the midst of getting the head of and replacing it with a good one.

I do have a haynes manual but what i want to clarify is that when setting up the timing, Starting from the bottom crank pully by setting it to TDC, do the top cam pulleys you just line the pins up and thats the top end done or? just confused because i remember my dad doing an engine a while ago (astra mk3) and he had like paper timing marks and all that malarky.

So if some one could help me understand it a bit easier it would be greatly apreciated Smile

Thanks guys

Wait to buy a new head until you know the pistons are ok too.

If you pin the cam pullies then they are in the right place.

Be carefull with the bottom end and timing off the pulley, assuming that the head is still off check that all the pistons are midway in the bores, this is where they should be but the bottom pulley can slip giving a false posistion and cause you to hit your valve's again.

Hope this helps you.

If in doubt, get a billet crankshaft pully from rich w.
