hi i have a mocal oil cooler kit with therostatic plate, im just wondering if it works and how as it looks like it does nothing where its sat at the moment, ive run hot water on it and cold but nothing happened, is this how it should look and how does it work, i expect the copper bit inside moves and blocks the hole off but it doesnt seem to work (well ive not fitted it yet).________________________________________ andrew315rawson@live.co.ukMoonstone phase 7 gti6 My Project thread: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=119992&page=1 |

i would of thought that the copper bit should stick out more or fill the hole in more to restrict oil flow, then go in when its warm.if thats in its cold mode then i cant see it restricting the oil from the cooler. but im not sure exactly how it works thats just what i expected. ________________________________________ andrew315rawson@live.co.ukMoonstone phase 7 gti6 My Project thread: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=119992&page=1 |

when i had a look at mine IIRC the stat will close ( think the silver bit will move and close that gap) when warm and send the oil through the oil cooler, you'll find out if it works when the cooler gets warm when the car is running, mine took about 10mins ticking over before it got warm. ________________________________________ My GTi6 track projectWhite Rallye project |

As above, never close fully If they closed fully and your oil reached the temp to open the stat when the engine was at high revs you would get a drop in oil pressure when the stat opened and filled the cooler And probably wipe out your engine Thats why on a road car in the winter they over cool your oil even with the stat plate fitted ________________________________________ Red GTB1756 powered Fabia VRS daily driver,LBSC Gti6 eater........Mac1 ZR R1 kit car build in progress. |

Picked it up from andy a good few months ago, carried out some repairs, my son gave it a wash and off we went. Was brilliant although believe it or not I don't think you can have a car with enough power on the ring, always seems to be plenty there with more. Carl Is that mapped now Carl? I think I only put a base map on it from my car, it has a different blower, so probably wants mapping... Not overly sure to be honest, it's booked in to a place in Northampton to have a map sorted next month.
