Right i have done a search and i have got some ideas what it could be but wondering if anyone could narrow my options down....

Right, the car recently would start but have a very rough idle, spluttering alot around 1000rpm droping below and picking up. When coming upto a junction letting the revs come down, put the clutch in and the car would stall. (No issues at all while driving)

The car since i owned it (not long) didnt have a breather filter on, so put one on tonight and now the car turns over starts(ish), then cuts out?!

Dont no if this is relevent but the idle issue started a few days after a new cambelt, worked fine for a day or so then idle issues....

My thoughts are icv/stepper motor issues? is that my best place to start?

Thanks in advance Cheers

Update;

Cleaned the icv tonight and re set the ecu...

Started the car, worked fine, turned off and didnt like idling so kept stalling....

Took it out for a good run and after a while didnt stall at any junctions....

On tickover at junctions the revs dont really move from 950rpm but the car is spluttering and juddering...

Has anyone any ideas what this could be?

Thanks

Test your alternator voltage when it's running should be 14.4v, also rev it and check aswell.

Other than that check all the earth points
Or could be a coilpack!?

Double check your timing for piece of mind, what bottom pulley did he use to time it up?
Is your cam sensor still plugged in? could of been disturbed from the cambelt change.

Yep, but I think it would be obvious by now if it was wrong. Loads of tapping/banging and 16 bent valves.

Who did the timing?

Well there is not sewing machine, banging, tapping etc so hopefully/doesnt sound like it is that.....

Cam sensor could be worth a look!! May need to find someone local and change some sensors see what works and what doesnt....

Good good.

would be worth whipping the crank sensor out and giving a clean.
When you reset the ecu did you leave all of your electrics on untill the fans kick in? I can't see it making much difference.

My understanding of re-setting the ecu was disconnect battery for 15 mins or so, connect it back up and go for a drive?!?! What should i have done?

ideally you need to let the fans kick in at high speed with all the electrics turned on to set the voltage drop correctly, then go for a drive
