Quick run through of story Ordered tyres and rims I wanted correct size bore so needed to be machined should have received within 14days 6 weeks later still no rims.
Choose the Toyo R1R's 195/50/R15 company finally received the rims today but My reserved tyres are no longer in stock the guy dealing with my sale thinks his fitters has put my R1R's on a T1R's order, so some lucky bas**rds got my tyres for half the cost.

Apprantly toyo are no longer manafacturing Motorsport tyre's until the new year as their factory in Japan is non-operational!

So question is what tyres for a budget of around £250 Would you choose?

What is the best size tyre for 7Jx15 rim ?

Thinking...

Federal 595RSR 205/50 £300
Michelin Pe2's 195/50 £224
Or maybe toyo T1R 205/55/R15 £232

I have used the search button Whistle no need for comments .Razz

Opinions Please guys calling tomorrow ?

would you say going as wider would generate a bit more grip or really not worth the extra ££££

A 7" rim will hold a 195 quite nicely, a wider tyre like a 205 or 215 will tend to move about same as a 195 on a 6" rim.

its basically tyre stretching but not to extremes, you get less give in the sidewalls, just not as extreme as some fashion victims LOL

Are they track tyres you're wanting?

Only ask because my Uniroyal Rainsport 2's have been faultless in wet or dry. Bit softer than more performance orientated tyres but they give you great confidence in the wet unlike some "dry weather only" tyres. Plus at the end of the summer when things start getting wetter they're ideal for shite weather.

Can be found for about £36 a tyre too.

Well I dont want to become the latest fashion victim Whistle so 195 it is 55's will fill the arches in a bit better than the eagle's on 50's
And damn the price difference between the pe2's 50-55's £56 to £101 thats Crazy for very little extra rubber.
Im going to try my luck with you fuk'd me about for 6 weeks so sort me out some 888's first then see where it goes from there. Big grin.

They were grippy as hell in the snow, strange for a symmetrical pattern tyre. My only problem was ground clearance Dry but when the car hadn't grounded out on deep snow it would pull no problem. I'm fitting them to my C5 wheels and selling the cyclones, will use the C5 wheels for winter and speedlines for summer Smile

When I purchased the car, I had a set of part worn Potenza RE720 on the 50 profile which were Great! Then I went with the Eagle F1's on the 50 profile which were great too, sticks to the road well in hard cornering, but the compound was too soft.

Then I invested in a brand new set of 55 profile PE2's and have to say they are the dogs hairy b's... It's great on wet and dry.

I have just replaced a pair on the front. They lasted me almost 1 year to the day and about 20,000 miles. The longest a pair have lasted on the front. My driving was not like miss daisey either! they also grip well wet or dry. Almost the best tyres I have had, apart from Bridgestone S02's, but I went through a pair of them on the front in 3 months!!
