Can you tell whether it feels stuck nearer the top of the dash or the bottom? My guess would be that you may have missed one of 2 screws, or maybe even both, as I had this problem the second time around. I've had a quick look through the guide your using and I didn't see them mentioned. I will now try my best to explain where they are.. The first and most likely one is bang in the middle of the dash, right at the bottom where the centre console would have been. Look up and underneath it and there should be a plastic bracket on the dash with a torx screw going through it and into the blower unit. The second is on the passenger side of the dash, again just behind and underneath the bottom edge of the dash. Look just along from where the centre console sits again, can't remember off the top of my head but at a guess I would say 2 or 3 inches in from where the bottom edge straightens out. Torx screw again (same size I think as well), also attaches the dash to the blower unit. I hope that helps in any way, if you have already removed them then it may just need working off, or could even be something silly like something catching on the steering column etc. |

ok, i have managed to move the dash now it was the brake switch switch cable amongst other bits. i havent removed dash completety i have pulled the passenger side out like in the picture.i have followed every bit of the guide as best i can so i am sure i have removed everything required. i need to get the car fixed and back together as its in a bit of a mesh now lol basically how the heck do you remove the matrix. i have absolutely no idea, i tried removing the blower motor and casing but no matter how many bolts i undo its stuck (their are some pipes going into behind the motor from engine bay) i think these are air con pipes??? i dont even know if i am removing the right bit. i can see the matrix, cant tell how the heck the pipes comes off, removed a metal clip but they seem stuck solid. the matrix has got me really puzzled as to what i remove to get it out. |

Undo the two nuts out in the engine bay, manifold kinda level with a red washer. Best thing to do is to break off what you can see of the matrix from the engine bay so it'll pull through much easier and release the entire housing/matrix Once you've removed it and get back round to re-fitting, just cut the rubber gromit between the two holes. Some wd40 or washing up liquid also comes in handy for refitting. The cut i mention... it's worth it. ________________________________________ www.krisb.co.uk |

If you are just changing the matrix or removing it undo the 2 retaining bolts on the matrix surround and just pull the matrix out without touching the rubber seals in the bulkhead. check for sixysix thread on matrix ... it might have some details here READ post #7 - this is the simple way to do it! |

Okay, now what you have gotta do is go round to the engine bay, break off the black plastic which is part of the matrix - this is so you can pull the blower motor and matrix away from the bulkhead. Dont so much worry about taking anything else apart, just smash off the visible bits of the matrix from the outside. ________________________________________ www.krisb.co.uk |

Oh, and another thing to mention, DO NOT take the elbow off your new matrix. I've seen so many people get the job and it leaks after. It's not worth seperating the elbow. ________________________________________ www.krisb.co.uk |

As long as you've removed whats left of the hoses and the fitting on the end of the hoses. All you should have left (to smash up) are two bits of pipe poking out of the rubber gromet about an inch. ________________________________________ www.krisb.co.uk |

ok, in the meantime i broke it on the inside of car and have now got out the matrix. the plastic housing that the matrix sits in had brown dirty dried water in it, so guess it was leaking? (i dont know car history just the matrix was bypassed) i noticed in engine bay their is a metal clip where hoses secure to matrix, i removed the clip but wondered how do i get the fitting off? also what is the metal probe that is in the side of matrix (that you pull out) before you remove matrix from housing. mines a aircon model thanks for help so far |

i managed to get it off now cheers, i removed the matrix by cutting through the pipes on inside of car (part of the old matrix). then i couldnt remove the rubber pipes in engine bay where it connects to what was basically left of old matrix. i found a metal clip that you remove where rubber pipes join matrix, their is also a plastic lever i found you have to move to release rubber pipes. hope that makes sense. |

2 litres should be enough antifreeze and top the rest with water. you will need to bleed the system. there be one bleed on the top of the radiaotr, then one on the heater matrix pipe and should also be one on the side of the of the block,by the thermo stat. when you blead all of them run the car up to temp for the fans to cut in. |

so i fill up the car with antifreeze and water first, then do i run the engine up to hot before i start bleeding? i presume i bleed one at a time, does it matter where i start? do i bleed it like my radiator lol, undo it a bit let out air as soon as water seeps out tighen it up again. |

Start the bleeding with the radiator, then the thermostat and then the heater pipe....One at a time, make sure you get coolant through with no air and then tighten up. However, whilst doing this make sure you have the heater turned up full heat to get the coolant around the whole system.
