Hello, I've been offered some piper fast road cams by someone breaking a 6. He has a receipt for when they were fitted, but the receipt only says tabout the inlet camshaft being changed? Would someone just change the inlet Cam? He says they both look the same. Is there anyway of checking the cams to see if they are piper cams? There must be part numbers on them?
Thanks

You can decent gains with just the inlet. You can play with the standard exhaust cam to suit to a point. Main issue is how much lift the cam gives you as there isn't much room.

Oh right, didn't know if just the inlet would be worth it. They are the smallest lift that they do. 0.043, 1.09mm. I'll find out how much the bloke wants for just the pipercam and decide from there, cheers

as mentioned, mapped properly and with the right inlet and exhaust, you could be well to 190 bhp I would imagine, retaining the standard exhaust cam will keep the torque up too afaik so should make a nice drivable road car.

I know a few 2.2 XU's on throttle bodies and decent exhasuts that have made 220-240 bhp with pretty much stock heads and an inlet cam only, impressive torque too.

Edit, which cam is it? may sill be quite mild but 1.09 IIRC is ok in a stock engine.

don't the 285's need the pistons modding to allow the extra lift.

you can use them but they will be worn to suit the old cam, is best to use new ones and bed them in.standard springs are fine though
