Evening all, nice to be back online Happy

Was left on the side of the M1 last Friday with the diagnostics throwing up a TPS error, and so was towed home, (only now do I realise I could've just unplugged it and carried on driving... Dry ).

So have dismantled my throttle body and retrieved the TPS, to find oil loitering inside the sensor (literally the casing's full). Also there appears to be a bit jus' chillin inside the manifold. I'm guessing its a bloody good bet that the oil bath it's received had a hand in killing the sensor.

My question to you is... Where could the oil have come from, and has anyone had this problem/solution before?
Valve stem seals?
Huge amounts of blowby? ( =piston rings on their way out?) Unsure

Any advice or experience much appreciated, as always...

Engine oil breathers, these engines arent too bad but if its getting on a bit some will get past the rings. Its oil vapour from excessive pressure in the crankcase.

The Dtub use to puke oil all over the intake, all of the time! Consider fitting an oil catch tank, and clean all of the sensors with some Electrical contact cleaner.

Clean it up mate with electrical contact cleaner, or even brake cleaner if you are struggling!

It won't run fine without the TPS, but it should run as long as yo haven't unplugged the MAP sensor as well. oil in the intake is pretty normal on these to be honest. I doubt that's the cause of your TPS failing, chances are it's just worn out or failed by itself.
