Hi, My 306 rallye holds revs when changin gears. It seems to hold at 3k and then takes a couple of seconds to go back to idle which IMO is not right. Do gti-6 engines just do this or do i have a problem? |

What car did you have before? I was sure my 6 had a problem when i first got it as the revs seemed to hang a lot when changing gears. It was just my right foot though as I had driven diesels for 2 years and gotten used to the complete lack of throttle response. |

Got a 106 rallye aswell, its not my foot as I thought that at first but i made a thing of taking my foot right off the throttle when changing gear and it still does it. |

You have a slight air leak on the inlet side, trace and rectify. |

Basically any hose or gasket the goes onto the inlet manifold between the throttle body and the head that could let in air. |

Just about to say this, after spending a discusting amount of money (basically checking everything else) turned out to be cracks that had got worse in two of the rubber pipes, replaced and the car had never run so quite / so smooth / and idled lower, must of been then since i bought it just gradually got worse. ________________________________________ Ex-Black 6 - Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary... Had a poke round with the car today, checked all the pipes I could find for cracks etc and they all look perfect no signs of cracking etc. I cleaned out the throttle body and ICV. I also took the ICV apart and sealed with some silicone incase the oring had gone hard and started letting air in.I took the vacum take off for the servo on the inlet off and blocked up the nipple to eliminate any of the servo pipes being the problem and the it still held revs, apart from the servo take off, ICV, fuel rail vacum, and the EGR take off is there anywhere else air could be getting in? Ive resett the ECU and it helped for about a minute then the problem came back. Im thinking its the TPS rather than an air leak if im honest. |

My money would be on the ICV starting to pack up.It could possibly be the TPS too. ________________________________________ Rich |

Would either the TPS or ICV throw up a fault code on the ECU if they were faulty? might take it to my mates garage to get it plugged in. |

Possibly, but it may just show as a mixture control issue.________________________________________ Rich |

unfortunatly as above it could be quite a few things, see my thread for similar answers, ICV was out, cleaned, checked. as well as everything else took the best part of £200 for eccosse to bend me over and fix it, bad times.________________________________________ Ex-Black 6 - Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary...
