Hi guys, i have a 1997 gti 6 with kent cams and adjustable pulleys. When you start the car up and drive a few hundred yards the revs drop right down, then the car seems to bog down but almost straight way kick back in and is fine. Has anyone else heard of this or had this problem? Im a bit concerned. Cheers

Would that cause it to only be like occasionally? it does it sometimes after driving, other day it was fine for 60 miles on motorway, got off into some lanes put my foot down abit and it bogged down, lost revs, then kicked in again and was fine.

Unlikely to be a cams issue. Sounds like a sensor / dodgy earth.

Read the sensor checking thred in the FAQ section, grab a multimeter then get busy. Problem is with an intermittent fault you will only get a dodgy reading when the component is playing up. Could be anything from a MAP sensor to a Crank position sensor. Maybe a plug into a diagnostic machine might narrow your seach down a little if you know somewhere with a friendly tester who wont bum you too hard on the price?

Could also be the relay behind the battery box. If they crack they can get dirty/wet and f*ck about.
