its rare you'll find anything on a 2 post ramp even if the beam is totally f*cked, hell my 205 passed an MOT with no bearings left whatsoever!!!________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

Could worn bushes cause this? i have since fitted solid mounts and can report that every thing lines up perfect and the ride is noiser and more harsh only person that cares is my daughter that sits in the back ________________________________________ yeah the zx td is back on the road front mounted intercooler fitted fuel pump tweaks now required + turbo adjustment |

I just went out and took the rubber grommets out on the boot floor and tightened up the 6 (14mm?) bolts under there. They were tight-ish but could be tightened up a bit more with some effort. Will test drive later to see whether an improvement has resulted. ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |

I've heard some people say they made no difference to the ride. Is it really noticeable? |

I think i'm going to buy the bushes at some point. The car is on 122k now, can't be sure if they're the original bushes. Not bad for 122k if they are ________________________________________ Team Diesel |

I have the same issues. My one creak from pull away and also there seems to be rumbling/clicky noise at 5-10mph. I have solid mounts and a beam that had everything changed 25k ago. I know my rear shocks are f*cked so im having billy b6's fitted Wednesday. The mechanic is going to inspect the rear end to see what my creek is. Is it obvious to see if the noise is from the tb's or arb? Im hoping its just a sticky caliper or something as lots of cash has been spent on the back end. ![]() ________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

Jeepers that is irritating getting noise _after_ spending a bunch of money on the rear end. I called CG Cars, and one of the blokes there suggested in my case the clonk could be something to do with the ARB adrift or end-plates (13mm bolt) needing to be tightened up. ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |

My problem is probly just something daft but its finding it. Still, at the very least my back wheel won't bounce anymore with the billys on. Hopefully my mechanic mate Will sort the old bird out for me. Il find out Wednesday so il post up his findings. Good old 6's... Found the problem. The beam bearings have failed on the driver side after less than 25k. So... New beam for me then. ![]() ________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

All bits were done. New pins (205 ones) New bearings and seals too. All pug bits too. So i getting a beam off of jord and chucking it on. Ill rebuild my old one and sell it on to recoup sons cash i reckon. Could it be the solid mounts have caused premature failure due to loss of dampening? If so ill save and get pug rubber ones. ________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

![]() shouldnt need to do the whole beam if only one side has gone, has it been stripped down? would imagine the seal clearances were not set properly if it failed in that time, its pretty critical as too tight and the seal will wear out and let water in, too slack and the water will get in. Have taken apart 100k+ beams with pretty minimal wear, though most lowered ones even with less mileage have been donald ducked due to the seals as mentioned above. Solid mounts wont affect it, big torsion bars will though. ________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

I was getting some serious knocking from the back end of my car, the beam looked ok i.e no camber and no squeeking, just knocking so I got the 4 mounts and had them swapped. The old ones were absolutely Fubar'd. The cars done 226k now and I reckon they were the original mounts ![]() End result is that I now have a nice quiet beam and a car that doesn't sound like I have a sledge hammer jumping up and down in the boot, it handles so so so much better too! As it would really..... If one of your wheels is showing a lot more camber than the other one then its beam rebuild time unfortunately. ________________________________________ Almost standard 1999 Bianca RallyeHilux InvincibleX daily 306 No.13 ![]() Carp and specialist Anglers Click here |

Got to be the first place to start, 4 mounts from GSF is a lot cheaper than a refurbished beam and if it is the beam you would be replacing the mounts anyway, logical course of action. Roll the car slowly forward and stick the handbrake on, if you hear a clunk, its the mounts ![]() ________________________________________ Almost standard 1999 Bianca RallyeHilux InvincibleX daily 306 No.13 ![]() Carp and specialist Anglers Click here |

Well it is the cheaper issue. Got my new beam but have to wait a week before my trusted garage can fit it. But the road trip to get it yesterday was fun. 512miles covered yesterday. Cheers pete26 for the company and cheers Jord for beam. Looking forward to trying the rubber mounts instead of my solid ones. ![]() ________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |
