Hello!

Getting the car ready for the ring. Have ordered solid rear mounts and coilovers up to now, brakes and tyres are next!

I have been looking at Federal 595 RS-R's (R888's equivilent but cheaper and last slightly longer) I was just wondering if it was raining, how good these were really going to be, and if they are going to last to Germany, 10 laps of the ring, and then home again? Or do tyres like this actually last longer on track due to them not getting ruined by heat?

I can get all 4 for £277 delivered by the way, and fitting is free.

Cheers, Sam

Unless you're in a race car, treat the Ring as basically motorway driving. You want it stable at speed, and able to cope in all conditions; it can easily be sunny at the start of the lap and raining heavily half way round.

There are also very few points where you're actually turning tightly, it's just the speed that makes you think you are.

Unless you're some Ring God there's really no need for the likes of 888s, they just mean you're going faster when you crash Yes

EDIT: Bear in mind the stickier the tyres the *more* they're affected by heat, it's more than possible to finish off a set of 888s in a day there, hence none of the heavier cars run them.
