Either the crank position sensor pictured above, or the lift up reverse cable if your car has that.Or the clutch cable  ________________________________________ Bye bye Sundance Kid |

VSS is connected to the final drive housing though, so unless they ripped the gearbox off without dismantling the final drive for clearance I don't think that's the problem.Does the engine fire? If no - crank position sensor Does reverse work? If no - reverse cable Does the speedo work? If no, VSS Does everything have a mind of it's own? If yes - one of the earths.
