Evening all,

I recently ordered some bog standard NGK spark plugs from Euro Car Parts along with some other bits to do a service.

Anyway, I received the bits on Friday and only opened them up today when I was about to get started with the work, and I noticed that the spark plugs had a different part number to what I was expecting.

The part number of the NGK plugs I got is - BKR5EZ

Now from what I have gathered from doing a search on various websites, the correct NGK part number for the '6 should be BKR6EK.

So, my question is are the plugs I've been sent the right ones just with a newer/universal part number or are they completely wrong?

I've sent an e-mail to ECP to check with them too, but they're not open again until tomorrow. I was hoping someone on here would know and then I can get some replacements sorted if necessary.

Is there anywhere that I can cross reference the part numbers to check if they're the correct ones?

Any help would be appreciated. Thumbs up

The ones you were sent are single electrode, the 6EK is a twin electrode. It'll physically fit, but not sure what is recommended for the 6.

BKR6EK
BKR5EZ

In my experience, parts purchased from ECP are unlikely to be suitable for the intended vehicle. Google says they fit some Fiat Puntos.

It was that Sparkplugs.co.uk website where I got the BKR6EK part no. from, after using their vehicle search thingy.

Only reason I got them from ECP was because they were cheaper, what's the saying buy cheap buy twice!

Looks like I'll be placing an order with Sparkplugs.co.uk then.........

send them back?

I normally just get mine cheap enough from the local motorfactor, they all tend to stock NGK these days.

6EK's does sound correct.

ECP are cheap and if you buy in store you can check the parts before leaving.

That's what I'll be doing, just wanted to get my facts right before I went any further.

I would have bought them in the ECP branch, but the nearest one to me is about 50 miles away.

6EK's is the correct part number. The 5's are the wrong heat range and could, in the worst case scenario, damage your engineSmile
