I need to get my tyres replaced very soon.

But before i do i need to get to the bottom of what is causing my uneven tyre wear and sort it otherwise im going to go through £200 of tyres very quickly!

On the drivers wheel the outer edge wears very very quickly. On the passenger side it wears on the outside and in the middle also very quickly.

Car pulls ever so slightly to the right when driving at speed with the stearing wheel straight on.

The car in the last year has had new

-eibach springs
-bilstein b4's at the front
-droplinks
-top mounts
-new wishbones although fitted before i got the car (drivers bolt also came loose worryingly quite recently)

So can anyone tell me what i need to have the garage looking at tomorrow?

So far im thinking

-track rod ends
-tracking needs doing? (i read somewhere that all 4 wheels need to be tracked for it to make a difference although on some cars you cant do all 4 - can you on the gti-6???)

Any input much appreciated cheers Smile

Get the tracking done properly with laser alignment.

As you said you had a bolt come loose on the wishbone i'd personally have it up on the ramps, tighten everything up and get it tracked. If the suspension's been off then ideally it would need tracked again to be sure it's straight.

Anyway a half decent garage would tell you what's wrong with the car before they even try and track it. At least the garage near me did when he told me a balljoint was pretty much dead.

Thanks Smile

My inlet pipe came today just waiting on the silicone hoses and clamps and will try and fit it tomorrow Wink

Going for red silicone with steel hose. Big grin

Is it 4 wheel alignment on our cars or just the front wheels?

Try these people in Chesham
http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/
They actually do know what they are doing and have the gear and experience to adjust the chassis alignment properly.
A full check of the chassis geometry will tell you all you need to know.

only the front is adjustable as such, BUT get the full works done, as any issues at the rear end can cause odd behaviour.

make sure they get the front toe set properly, seen too many muppets say +1 one side and -1 the other means parallel LOL

Thanks guys, jcphat i have been googling places near to me and they actually came back with good reviews so im probably going to go with them.

welshpug thanks so what sort of toe should i be needing? 0 each side or 1 each side or something? LOL

I going to ECP today to get new track rod ends and i think ball joints too as i still have a slight knock on the drivers side.

Having replaced all of the above i can only see it being a few of the other bits. Been reading wishbone bushes and p-bushes too but they look too hard for me to attempt to change :S

I figure its best to fit those new bits before getting the alignment done or its pointless!

By default I believe the car has one degree of toe-in, so best stick with that unless you're getting serious Yes
