I have a serious misfire with my Rallye.

It only happens every so often.
Basically when it does happen it begins to misfire only between 2-3rpm. It then loses power unless i blip the accelerator and change gear. This misfire can happen in any gear.
Sometimes when waiting at the lights it idles gruffly and almost cuts out.

Any suggestions as i'll be taking it to my mechanic soon? Smile

Sounds like a spark plug. Normally if a coil pack fails it just fails as apposed to being intermittent.

Take them out and give them a look over. If the are ok then they should be a chocolately brown colour around the seat of the spark plug.

Cheers Matt. Plugs etc are all fine.

I can see in the service history that one of the previous owners queried this with a Peugeot dealership. That was about years ago. No issue was found.

What else could this be?
It becoming dangerous when passing out.

I would change the plugs first it's the cheapest option less than £20 if it happens still then unplug the coil packs one by one and which ever one it doesn't make a difference on is the one with a problem.

Failing that I would start looking at the injectors. Same process unplug them one by one! Roll eyes

hey, ive been problem solving a 1.4l i bought for a few months now and had similar issues.

Run your Engine mean while try pressing or moving the MAP sensor, if it plays up or cuts out your lookin at a faulty sensor, mine was cutting and juddering as it was quite serious issue but also try upping the setting your accelerator cable is set on if your seeing it mess round idle, when i first saw mine it would start but cut out quite quickly untill i reset the accelerator bit. Good Luck
