Interesting lack of "applying to the laws of physics" there then.

Water pump?

When you say "idle" do you mean "not moving"? Or tickover?

Has to be the fans i guess, the only difference between idle and moving is the air taking the heat away from the rad.

May be the high speed that isnt kicking in.

Unplug the brown sensor should come on slow speed for a few seconds then kick up to high speed. Easy way to tell if the fans themselves arent knackered.

need some help guys, this thread is about my gti 6, i bought it 2 weeks ago and changed my thermostat, 3 sensors and relays, it didnt solve it, then changed timing belt and waterpump as the car just hit 61000. its still overheating when in traffic or idle. my fan only comes on at 110 and stops at 100, when driving fast its 90 or just under. i have no leaks or smells and no loss of power. i even took of the covers from underneath the car to see if that would help. when i changed my relays the old ones had 4 pins, the new ones from peugeot had 5 pins, could it be that? i need to do that brown sensor test, as people have suggested. even if its my head gasket i dont mind replacing it, but i still want to know why my fan doesnt kick in earlier, i heard it should come on at 100 n come down to 90. advice would be appreciated

one of the fans could be faulty, they should both come on at low speed.

i have done the brown sensor test and only my driver side fan comes on straight to high speed, my passenger side fan doesnt work even after flicking it and giving it a bash. i think this may be the problem, any ideas on wot i need to do, do i just change my fan? or has it got to do with the bitron unit aswell? and how much do u think i could get a fan for

Just fixed this on my car, pulled the passengers side fan off and found it was some corrosion in the plug on the fan itself, gave it a clean up and works perfect now.
