Hi,

I have a problem no one seems to have the answer to.

While driving without the aircon, the car runs perfectly but as soon as the aircon is switched on, the temp will slowly start to rise until the high speed fans come on to bring the temp back downCrazy (This temp rise with the aircon will even happen on cold days)

Both fans work as they should and always run together, coolant is topped up and bled correctly, thermostat is working and there are no coolant leaks.

What has got me baffled is that the engine runs as it should (without the aircon) no matter what the outside temp. It was consistently over 40 degrees ambient last week and it didn't miss a beat! Definately a tough ride without aircon I can tell youRoll eyes

I am guessing the problem must lie with the aircon system rather than the cooling system, but what could it be???

cheers

I assume the fans come on at low speed when you turn the A/C on?

more than likley it's your condensor heating the coolant in the rad,So as Rich says check the fans are coming on with the aircon.

Too much aircon gas causing the high pressure switch to come in? With aircon switched on the high speed fans won't come in at all to offer any form of cooling until the aircon pressure builds up.

Worth a check? Smile

Yep, both fans run at low speed as soon as the aircon is switched on.

sounds as if your coolant system is not working as good as it is supposed to then, check the rad for blokages, when was the coolant last changed?.The system could be full of crap and it is at its limit before adding on the load of the compressor and the warm air from the condensor being blown over the rad.Search the internet as this is not that uncommon.

That is what has me baffled.

The cooling system is A1. New rad, new matrix, new water pump, new hoses, new coolant and it has been bled correctly.
